There is a huge percentage of the population in the world who suffers from hyperhidrosis. You might not be familiar with it, but you might be one of the millions of people who suffer from it. Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating. I do understand that it caused too much problem and discomfort to many people who suffer from it

In their aim to solve this health condition, or at least to hide it, they resort to different remedies. Some effective and some will just worsen the problem. For some people who have not found the solution of the problem, hiding it gives them a temporary relieve.

But does hiding excessive sweating a good solution? Actually it is not even a solution especially if you have facial sweating. It is something that you cannot hide. It is something that you must face.

Facial sweating can be caused by various reasons. One is that it might be hereditary, and you may know somebody in the family history that has previously shown signs of it. Maybe he can also ask his parents if any of his grandparents suffer from excessive facial sweating. Once he can determine if it is something hereditary, then he can consult the doctor regarding it. It will make it easier.

Are you obese? If you have facial sweating, it might be caused by obesity. Obesity is one of the leading causes of excessive sweating. If you are obese, it might be good to consider a healthy diet and also consult your doctor. This can be a good solution as well.

Do you have thyroid disorder? Some sufferer of excessive sweating (e.g. facial sweating) determined that the cause is that their thyroid malfunctioned. Thus, to find relief it is important to eat healthy food especially foods rich in iodine. It is also better to consult your doctor about this.

Do you drink too much alcohol? If so, then start to slow down. Alcohol can result to excessive sweating. It is true that drinking wine is good for the body. But it should be taken moderately. Too much of it can cause facial sweating or any other forms of excessive sweating.

You can’t just keep on bringing along a handkerchief to dry you face. If you are a woman, facial sweating can cause discomfort and will definitely cause you to spend a lot of time putting makeup. You cannot escape it that way. It is important to determine the cause. Once you have determined the cause, consult your doctor. Solutions like surgery and other complicated technological solutions are effective. Others are given facial cream to prevent facial sweating. This can also be good.

Remember, regardless of what type of solution you want to choose, it is of paramount importance to maintain proper hygiene. Take a shower or take a bath everyday. This can somehow prevent bad odor. Have a healthy diet. Eat proper kinds of food (or food rich in iodine if you have thyroid disorder). Eat healthy and you will surely live healthy. Don’t be ashamed to ask for a medical professional’s help.

As a teenager, like most of my friends, I was often found playing sports and other games. As I played, I would obviously begin to sweat, and though I knew that sweating was natural, I began to realise that I sweated much more than other children my own age.

It began with my underarms sweating excessively, and I soon noticed my face being affected the same way. I visited a doctor, asking her if the my facial sweating was connected to the sweating in my underarms and she informed me that it was in fact related. She described the condition as ‘Hyperhidrosis’, which is a disorder of one’s sweat glands or sympathetic nervous system.

She went on to explain that excessive facial sweating may show up at anytime and some of the factors responsible for it include stress, anxiety or fear. She also informed me that three types of facial sweating existed namely, palmar excessive sweating, axillary excessive sweating and plantar excessive sweating. The different names simply relate to excessive sweating in different parts of the body. Axillary sweating is related to the armpits, and palmer sweating is related to the excessive sweating of the palms.

As a result of my excessive facial sweating, I began to become extremely self-conscious and tried my best to avoid entering situations that caused me to sweat. Boys in school would be avoided, and so would class presentations. I never managed to wear make-up, because my face was almost always be much too wet and even if it wasn’t, my sweating would completely ruin it. And so my sweating began to affect me worse and worse, causing me loads of embarrassment and humiliation.

Treatment for Facial Sweating

I discovered many treatments, but sadly didn’t consider all of them because of my age. Surgery was an option with a hight success rate, and it involved the burning or cutting of nerve ganglia and sympathetic nerves around the chest region. A less drastic measure is to use a prescription antiperspirants which are much stronger compared to the more common off-the-counter antiperspirants. This works for some people, but not for many people suffering hyperhidrosis.

The procedure I tried, however, was called iontophoresis. More useful for people suffering from sweating in their limbs, the process used a conductor and water to create a small current to pass through you. The water had minerals in it which would then plug up the sweat glands stopping them from producing sweat.

Doctors may also prescribe you oral medication – anticholinergic drugs – which have been found effective in the treatment of facial sweating. However, these drugs may produce side effects and are unsuitable for women who are pregnant or nursing, thus it is important to consult your doctor before you take them.

I know for a fact that excess facial sweating can ruin one’s life, but it is important not to give up hope and to remember that there are a large number of treatments which are available that can help you cope with this condition.

It is an all too common misconception that facial sweating only affects people who are overweight or obese. Although facial hyperhidrosis is exacerbated by these weight problems it is also seen in people who are within normal healthy weight ranges for their gender, height and age. People who live with facial sweating which is medically known as facial hyperhidrosis not only have to suffer from the sweating but also from the psychological pain it causes as well. This condition often makes those who suffer from it feel isolated, embarrassed, helpless and even antisocial and paranoid and can dramatically and negatively impact their lives.

Don?t be fooled by the name of this condition. Facial hyperhidrosis can affect more than just the sufferers? face. The face, scalp and neck can all be affected with this excessive sweating. For people who suffer from this condition even the slightest physical activity can result in their head, face and neck being drenched by a downpour of sweat. For women, facial sweating can be even more of an annoyance as it runs their makeup on a regular basis.

Facial hyperhidrosis isn?t the end of the world. It is indeed treatable. Ultimately it will come down to surgical or non surgical methods and your preference on them. Surgery involves risks, possible side effects and significant financial costs/. When it comes to surgery there is always a chance that it may lead to other complications.

Prescription antiperspirants are the most commonly used non surgical treatments for facial sweating. These are generally available over the counter and are said to be quite effective in improving this condition.

There are also topical antiperspirant solutions also available. These solutions need to be left on your skin in the affected area for usually around six to eight hours but for exact time frames check the instructions included with the product. These products must be applied only to skin that is completely dry otherwise you run the risk of experiencing an acute epidermal irritation. Once you wash the solution off you will soon begin to sweat again. This is not a cure for facing sweating, just a temporary fix for the symptoms you experience.

These days doctors and dermatologists have been exploring many other treatment methods. The most prevalent treatment avenue is the well known cosmetic surgery dug Botox. Botox injections have been proven to be victorious at combating axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating). The downsides when it comes to this drug are the possible side effects, its financial costs and the fact that it only lasts a few months to a year at most. Botox is not really for you if you are a person who is squeamish when it comes to needles either.

Everyday new herbal and other remedies are being discovered or developed so don?t give up hope. Doing some trial and error for a while will more than likely provide you will a solution for your facial sweating that actually works? You now have the information you need and now it?s time to eliminate your facial sweating once and for all.

Sweating is a natural phenomenon necessary for the normal regulation of an human’s body-temperature. The secretion of sweat is mediated by a part of our vegetative nervous system (the Sympathetic Nervous System). Facial blushing, or erythrophobia, is a sudden reddening of the face that occurs spontaneously or in response to stressful stimuli, which can extend to the neck, forehead, ears and the upper chest. Some areas are obviously harder to conceal than others.

Facial blushing generally appears during the teenage years. The sudden burst of facial redness is triggered by the unexpected announcement of exciting information or sometimes by the presence of others, which can also tie in with facial blushing. The affliction may have a serious social as well as functional impact on the victim’s life.

In some people (about 1% of the population), this system is working at a very high activity level which is much higher than needed to keep a constant temperature. This condition is referred to as hyperhidrosis. Facial sweating and facial blushing often happen in conjunction, as they are both caused by over activity of the sympathetic nervous system. This is part of what is called the involuntary central nervous system. Therefore it is not possible to control or stop it voluntarily, and this makes facial blushing unpredictable and unforeseeable in most circumstances. A common misconception about this condition is that it typically affects only those people who are overweight, but this is not true as it can affect anybody.

Experiencing sweat pouring down from the forehead in conditions of over stressing situations can be very distressful and induce the patient to think that others may consider them nervous or insecure. This in turn can cause the person to avoid social interactions such as work, or sporting activities, and other situations that would stimulate blushing. Unfortunately, others can misinterpret facial sweating and blushing as a sign of embarrassment or sickness.

Antiperspirant is usually recommended as the first therapeutic measure. The most effective agent over the latest years seems to be aluminium chloride appearing in quantities of 20-25% and in 70-90% alcohol, applied in the evening two to three times per week. Generally, this treatment has been seen as effective in cases with light to moderate hyperhidrosis but has to repeat on a recurring basis. Another option that physicians are exploring today are Botox injections which are currently used in the treatment of excessive underarm sweating. However you must be aware that Botox has not yet been approved for the treatment of any other form of hyperhidrosis and can often be very painful and costly, not to mention dangerous. Botox can be effective in treating facial hyperhidrosis but the treatment lasts only six to twelve months and can cause a stiffness of facial expression and. Surgery can be effective for the control of facial sweating and blushing problems but careful consideration of the side effects are essential with your doctor. Compensatory sweating may occur and apparently there is a risk of Horner’s syndrome (which is a drooping eye-lid).

Sympathectomy is often known as a final resort to help cure facial sweating. In fact sympathectomy was once regarded as exclusive treatment to cure facial sweating, but not without its problems. Thus, Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy was prescribed as an most effective cure. Having said this, in recent times surgical solutions have declined as surgical treatment to cure sweating are prone to show lower success rates.
